COTT -- Hecate

FULLVIEW REQUIRED. No, seriously, the image is HUGE, but it probably looks better that way.

At this point in time, I have actually NOT seen 'See You at the Crossroads' (aka the 'Class of the Titans' Hallowe'en special), but hey, the director had some neat screencaps up on his blog, and I liked Hecate's pre-triplicate design. So why not give it a go and do some experimentation art-wise while I'm at it?

First, one new art thing I did was pencil the original lineart in red, rather than the usual graphite, before inking it. From what I've been reading in tutorial, this makes it MUCH easier to remove the pencils by using the channels in Photoshop. And boy, did it ever make cleaning up inked art easier! Speaking of inking, I had several crises with my inking pen while I was doing this -- it either started crapping-out on me or flowing too quickly and too much at once. Augh.

Second, the other main new art thing I tried was to work backwards from shadows to highlights, as well as paint with one colour theme as set by the background. I didn't really succeed at that too well, but hey, it was worth a try.

Otherwise, not too much new stuff -- I used coloured lineart again, and I still can't do lighting, but at least I tried this time (the third new art thing?). In terms of credits -- yay for the director's blog for the reference screencaps, and Mayang's Free Textures Library for the background texture.
